It’s not easy to follow Christ...

"Follow Jesus, Not Me" by Tony Gerber

It’s not always clear
what path Christ wants us to follow or how He really wants us to live. But the more you know about the bible, the easier it is to understand His will. Understanding the bible truly helps guide us from day to day.

Almena United Methodist Church is dedicated to providing education of the bible, how to read it, the lessons we can draw from it, and how to apply our learning into our daily comings and goings in order to lead more fulfilling, God-centered lives.

From toddlers to those who qualify for a senior citizen discount, Almena United Methodist Church offers Christian Education for all ages. Following are a list of classes that are being offered. Although it is ideal to start from the beginning of a class, you are certainly more than welcome to stop by at any time to discover what a particular class has to offer you

“The Kid’s Travel Guide to the 23rd Psalm”

The 3rd-5th grade class will begin "The Kids Travel Guide to the 23rd Psalm". Following an overview of the 23rd Psalm, the lessons explore each phrase of the psalm in depth and lead children from God's provision in peaceful valleys and his nearness in darkest valleys- to the abundant blessings we receive as we follow him all the days of our lives. Upon completion of the guide, the new testament will be studied leading us into Easter. In the final weeks, the stories of the old testament will be studied.

“Exodus”

Get up… leave…take off – these words are good ones for those trapped or enslaved.  Some resist their marching orders, however, preferring present surroundings to a new, unknown environment.  It’s not easy to trade the comfortable security of a known for an uncertain future.

But what if God gives the order to move?  Will we follow his lead?

God led Moses and the nation of Israel, and he wants to lead us as well.  Is he preparing you, like Moses, for a specific task?  He will be with you; obey and follow.  Is he delivering you from an enemy or a temptation?  Trust him, and do what he says.  Have you heard his clear moral directions?  Read, study, and obey his Word.  Is he calling you to true worship?  Discover God’s presence in your life, in your home, and in the body of assembled believers.  Exodus is the exciting story of God’s guidance. Read with the determination to follow God wherever he leads.

“Revelation Throughout the Scriptures”

This class is a verse by verse study of the Book of Revelation.

The meaning of the name "Revelation" is to reveal or uncover. Together, we will be learning what God is revealing to each of us. We will be using scriptures in both old and new testaments to find where God has given us a second witness through His word to the symbolism that is used in this letter written by John the apostle while on the island of Patmos.

I Corinthians 10:11 tells us that all the things written are examples to us of things to come, and many of the old testament stories will have a short review lesson as we make our way through Revelation. A Bible that includes both old and new testament will be needed for this class. Everyone is welcome to join in the class and discussion as we learn together what God has revealed. This class meets in the fellowship hall.
